SCI稿件返修超过时间怎么办

Sci论文在投稿后在审稿过程中基本上都会遇到要对论文进行修改，通常杂志社会给作者修改稿件的时间，但由于有特殊的情况或修改的难度比较大，在规定的时间内可能不能提交修改稿，那SCI稿件返修超过时间怎么办?
无论是因为什么原因导致在规定的时间内没有办法提交返修稿，作者都要向期刊的编辑说明未能按时返修的原因，基本上只要原因合理，杂志社的编辑是能够理解的，会同意作者申请延期，但是作者申请的这个时间不能太长。
